March 7th & 8th, 2012 – Big Bend, Texas

935 miles from Baton Rouge, via an overnighter in Austin, Texas (where Don had to buy a University of Texas T shirt and Leslie had to buy shorts), we finally arrived at Big Bend National Park.   We did see some deer and a road runner, but mostly we saw fantastic desolate scenery, National Park Rangers, and the US Border Patrol.  The park is located on the Rio Grande, and as you can see Leslie, was trying to escape into Mexico.  In the picture where she has her toe in the river, the upper right hand corner is Mexico.  She was so close, but the cliff on the other side changed her mind.
