June 7th, 2012 – On the way to Louisville, KY

One of the things on our bucket list is to go to every National Park.  We went to Abraham Lincoln’s birthplace today which means we have been to all the parks in Kentucky now – 1 state down, 49 to go.  We had no idea he was born in Kentucky and the tour was very interesting.  We also took a tour of the Makers Mark distillery in Loretto, KY.  We are now experts on bourbon and Leslie even got to dip some bottles into the wax.  We also know why Makers Mark is the best quality bourbon (according to them.)  At the end of the tour we got to do a taste test.  All of this fun for free!!

P.S. If you are interested, if you mouse over the pictures, it will give you more details.

  1. Don and Judy

Don and Leslie I am having a great time going along on these trips with you through your blogs. I took Don on a surprise trip to the Chateau Elan Winery (near Atlanta) for his birthday last year along with a nice meal in one of the restaurants there. Since I like Macadine’s I thought I would love tasting the Muscadine Wine – no way! Yikes!

We gave Wade his National Park Stamp Passport Book when we were at the Grand Canyon. He got it stamped there being his very FIRST National Park visit. Hope he will be able to accomplish all 50 states also. Keep it up – knowing you two I am sure you will someday complete all that is on your ‘bucket list’.
