April 6th – 7th, 2013 – Arizona Masters State Swim Meet – Oro Valley, AZ

Well, it finally happened.  Leslie got healthy enough to swim in a swim meet.  To her delight, the heats were set up by time, and not age, so she really did get to swim against the 80 year olds.  Well not quite, but close.  As you can see from the first picture, the swimming pool is in a beautiful location.  Leslie won a gold medal in the 50 yard backstroke (ok, she was the only one that swam in her age group), but she won a fairly legitimate bronze for the 100 yard free as she actually competed against someone.   At any rate, the weather was beautiful to spend two days outdoors and the Saddlebrooke Swim Club won the meet.  For those looking for inspiration, the team has a 98 year old female and a 96 year old male that swam several events.

Good for you Leslie! I cut my finger or I’d type more. Love my new inside swim cap. I finally found time to swim today and it was great. Let’s plan to get together before you leave for Germany.

So proud of you Leslie. It would be a great accomplishment for me to even put on a bathing suit these days – let alone do the swimming and win the medals. Great job!!

Congrats Leslie! You were obviously the youngster of the group. What an incredible backdrop to the pool.
