June 18th & 19th, 2013 – St. Louis, MO

We can now add Busch Stadium to our list of MLB stadiums where we have attended a game.  We saw the St. Louis Cardinals play the Chicago Cubs.   We did not, however, see a Clydesdale, much to Leslie’s chagrin.  Since we had no car, we spent the next day going to places that the Metro would take us.  We went to the Union Station and to the zoo.  The zoo is free and is very nice.  It has a lot of shade and huge habitats for the animals.   We did not make it to the Arch because we were too tired, hopefully next time.

We really enjoyed touring St. Louis when we were there. We had a good view of Busch Stadium from the Arch but we didn’t see a ballgame there. That must have been thrilling for you to see the Cardinals play the Cubs! Sorry Leslie had to do the ‘chagrin’ and did not get to see a Clydesdale. Our FREE tour of the Anheuser-Busch Brewery and the Clydesdales may have been one of the best we have ever had. We thoroughly enjoyed it. I was afraid I might get sick because I can’t take the smell of beer nor horses but the place was so clean and no odors. There were many things we enjoyed in St. Louis such as New Cathedral Basilica and the cruise on the Paddlewheel Showboat down the Miss. River. Faust Park was only about two miles from our hotel – we did a Hay Ride there and also saw the Butterfly Conservatory. One day we rode to Grants Farm which I think Leslie would have enjoyed. Lots of animals there including the smartest elephant I ever saw :D. We also went across the river to St. Charles with the Cobblestone street. They were having a Festival there – I really liked this place and that night we ate at the Magpie Restaurant in the outside garden which really ‘suited my fancy’. We wanted to go to the Botancal Gardens on the morning that we left but it was raining so we had to skip that one. So now Don I think you should take Leslie back and do the things you missed!
