March 8th – 10th, 2014 – Spring Training Baseball – Phoenix, AZ

We love living close to Phoenix because it is so easy to go to Spring Training baseball games.  We got to see the Indians play the Padres (a tie), Brewers (a win), and Angels (a loss).  The weather was beautiful and we had a great time.  We also got to do something we have been wanting to do for a while – go to the German Sausage Company.  They make their own German lunch meats and it is fantastic – it tastes just like what you get in Germany.

We also tried out Pizzeria Bianco.  Chris Bianco and his staff make the mozzarella fresh each morning, the dough is made by hand and the herbs come from a garden next to the restaurant.  Pizzeria Bianco has been rated as the best pizza in the United States by Bon Appetit, Vogue, Rachael Ray, and Andrew Zimmern.  In 2003, Chris Bianco won the James Beard Foundation Award for best Southwest Chef (the only pizza chef to have won a regional award) and the restaurant received a nearly perfect Zagat score of 29 in 2000.  With all this, how could the pizza not be fantastic?  If you are ever in Phoenix you need to eat here.

Sounds wonderful! All that sausage and pizza talk makes me really hungry. And Leslie I know Don is going to love your hat when he comes in to see the blog. Both of you look great and I’m glad you/re enjoying the spring training games. It’s been beautiful here the last few days… up to 77 yesterday and the same today. But we have rain tomorrow and more cold weather to come. Don’s been working on the swing so it will be up soon and I’ll be out there enjoying the warm sunshine. Can’t wait!
