March 29th, 2014 – Route 66 – Seligman, AZ

We had to spend the night near Peach Springs, AZ before starting our big adventure to hike to Havasu Falls.  On the way, we stopped in the big city of Seligman, AZ which is on Route 66 as you can tell.   It was actually very interesting.  It has a population of around 300 and still looks very much like the 50s and 60s when we are sure it was in its heyday.  We ate dinner at Westside Lilo’s which was pretty good considering it is kind of in the middle of nowhere.   It was also our last taste of civilization for three days.

It was wonderful to read your post and see the pics. You’re a wonderful writer and talented photographer. We’ve been experimenting with blurb and just today received our first book of pics from our 2013 Europe trip. Thanks for showing this to us. sending best, Arlene & Mark

How interesting all of your trips are! Don and I were close by this place twice. First in 1999 and then again on Wade’s Graduation Trip in 2012. We didn’t go into the ‘wild’ with no civilization but we did go into Needles, Calif. These pictures of yours remind me so much of that little city. From Needles we went to Bullhead City, Laughlin and then back to Las Vegas. Thanks for sharing the pictures and the story.
