July 20th, 2014 – Oregon Coast (Day 3) – OR

We made our way further down the Oregon coast today driving from Cannon Beach to Newport.  It continues to be beautiful as the first four pictures show.  The 6th picture is the Devil’s Punch Bowl which is near Newport.  It is a large bowl naturally carved in a rock headland which is partially open to the Pacific Ocean. Waves enter the bowl and often violently churn, swirl, and foam.  The 5th and 7th pictures are right next to the Devil’s Punch Bowl.

The light house is the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse which was built in 1871.  The bridge is the Yaquina Bay Bridge (next to the last picture)  which is one of the most recognizable on U.S. Route 101.  We are staying right below it, conveniently near the bay, the beach and Rogue Ales.  Rogue Ales is a brewery founded in 1988. Rogue Ales have been described as “invariably fun and full flavored”.   We left with a bottle of Shakespeare Oatmeal Stout – we had no choice but to buy it.

Love, love, love the scenes but would have gone back for more fresh seafood etc. rather than take the Shakespeare Oatmeal Stout if I had a choice. On the other hand perhaps you got it because of the name….. Thanks for sharing.
