December 18th, 2014 – DuPont State Forest & Brewery 85 – Greenville, SC

While visiting family and friends in Greenville, Don and Brandon took a day to hike in DuPont State Forest is located in North Carolina.   The name originates from the fact that the DuPont company sold the original tract to the state.  The forest was used to shoot scenes from the 1992 film “The Last of the Mohicans” as well as the 2012 box office hit “The Hunger Games”.   It is the site of a half a dozen major waterfalls.  We hiked to High, Hooker, and Triple Falls.

After our hike, we stopped by Brewery 85, which illustrated how far American Beer has come.  The brewer is a graduate of the historical Siebel Institute of Technology in Chicago, and received a World Brewing Academy International Diploma in Brewing Technology from the famous Doemen’s Academy in Bavaria, Germany.  Oh yeah, the beer was pretty good.
