April 28th, 2015 – Santa Margherita – Italy

In the afternoon, we took a self-guided tour around the city where we are staying – Santa Margherita.  It is on the Mediterranean Sea and is a very cute seaside town.  We walked to two beautiful churches.  The first one is the Basilica of St. Margaret of Antiochia which was built from 1658 on the remains of a 13th-century church.  The second one is the Church of San Giacomo.

We enjoyed a seafood lunch as we are on the coast and it is so fresh.  We ate dinner from a grocery store – Swiss cheese (real Swiss cheese), bread and salami – very good dinner.  Speaking of food – Leslie has found a new yummy dish – Trofie with Pesto.  They make a wonderful basil pesto here, and combine it with green beans, potatoes and pasta.  Since the pasta turns green, Leslie has decided it is an entire vegetable dish.

Leslie is also very excited about one other thing.  She saw on-line that filming for the next Dan Brown movie started today and that Ron Howard, Tom Hanks and Felicity Jones are filming in Venice.   She is already plotting how to find them when we get there in a few days.  More to come on this.

Beautiful…. and it’s all interesting. Looks like it’s cold there. What is the temperature? It’s cold here today even though the sun is out. Everyone I’ve see walking has on a jacket. Seems to be taking too long to get warm – I can’t wait.
