July 13th, 2015 – Iskut, British Columbia to Teslin, Yukon Territory – Canada

We did the other half of the Cassiar Highway today.  We were told we would see a lot of wildlife on the Cassiar, but this was not the case.  We chalked it up to the road construction and the brush clearing that was going on.  We did get to see an eagle and it flew in front of us for a while – leading the way.  Larry and Sharon said they had never seen an eagle do that before.

The Cassiar is pretty remote, but we did find a shopping opportunity – Jade City.  Ninety percent of the world’s jade comes from the Cassiar Mountains.  We had no idea.  The 5th picture shows the two RVs (the ones in the front) at one of the many places we pulled off for pictures.  The roads we are taking are quite remote, but the scenery is absolutely beautiful.

Love the scenes – all of them! Interesting about the Eagle. We saw lots of them when we were rafting down the Snake River summer before last.

  2. Carmie Cook

Still loving your post – Thanks. I’ve never driven the Cassiar but is on our bucket list. Would you recommend it?

I’ll be on the Kenai Peninsula south of Anchorage from Aug 11-25. Will you guys still be there then?

    • Hello Carmie, we are in Homer from the 8th through 12th, driving to Palmer on the 14th, and then on to Denali on the 15th. We have some flexibility, let us know, we would be glad to see you. Is this a guys trip, or is Janet traveling with you? Yes take the Cassiar, the main highlight for us was Stewart to Hyder. Leslie, may add some more comments. Don
