August 7th, 2015 – Seward (Exit Glacier) – Alaska

Another incredible day in Alaska!  They are having an unusually warm, dry summer and we are loving it.  Keep in mind that warm means high 60s or low 70s – very hard for us to remember that most of you are somewhere that is very hot right now.

We decided to take a hike to Exit Glacier today.  We saw a moose by the side of the road on the way in (2nd picture) and one while we were hiking (3rd picture).  Don also got another beautiful picture of fireweed.    The fireweed here still shows a lot of summer left.  We had originally planned to walk a trail to the toe of the glacier, but when we got there, the ranger told us about the Harding Ice Fields trail which she said was like a stairmaster, that would get us up close to the top of the glacier.  So…we took that trail.  The ranger was right – we got a good workout, but were also very glad to see the glacier from that view.
