Who knew there was a lake with a boat ride in the middle of the desert? Actually there are 4 reservoirs on the Salt River. Saguaro Lake was formed by the Stewart Mountain Dam and is located within Tonto National Forest. We took the Desert Belle which is a 143 passenger, two level boat. Originally launched in 1964, the Desert Belle has been providing tours for over forty years. The scenery from the boat was amazing.
We felt like James Bond was in the area when we saw a car that turned into a boat go by us (4th picture). In between the narration, there was music playing and when Pharrell’s “Happy” came on, the ladies just had to dance. It was a great way to end the trip. Such beauty just a few hours from our home.
