March 3rd, 2016 – Kauai, Hawaii (Day 7)

Our last day here and we got some good weather to the north.  We drove all the way to the end of the road to see Ke’e Beach which was still closed due to high surf.  Got some great pictures of waves though.  We took the Kalalau Trail up far enough to see the Na Pali Coast (next to the last picture).  It is 11 miles one way and being as we had to catch a plane tonight we did not hike the whole trail (yeah that is the reason).  We explored a few of the beaches up north, got Don his last “poke” for a while and went by the Kilauea Lighthouse and Wildlife Refuge (last picture).  Unfortunately it was closed due to construction, but we did get to see some red-footed boobies flying around and nesting.

Thank you for letting us go along via blog on your wonderful trip. I have loved every minute and wanted to ‘save’ every picture to be used on my desktop. BUT of course I couldn’t do that – have saved some. This first one is one of my very favorites (the rooster was another favorite – Ha!) Can’t believe that you will get to go back again and again. Let us know what is next….. Bet Merlin can’t wait to see his ‘Mommy and Daddy’. Safe travels home….

    Leslie,

I’m so glad that you sent pictures of the high waves. We saw in the paper last week that they were having some type of contest because this was one of the few times the waves were so high. So beautiful. Thanks,

    Barb
