March 19th, 2016 – Rillito Park – Tucson, Arizona

We almost let the horse racing season go by without going to see the ponies.  This was the last weekend and we had a beautiful day watching the quarter horses race.  Some of the races were sprints (330 yards).  We barely had time to watch for the horse we bet on before the race was over.  After a slow start, Leslie’s oh so scientific method of picking the prettiest horse paid off.  She even got brave and  did some exactas and trifectas.  In the end she was up quite a bit for the day.

We went to the races with four of our neighbors – two of whom were first timers.  In addition to the fun of the races, we got lots of exercise walking down stairs to see the horses before the race, then placing a bet, walking upstairs for the race and then doing it all over again.  That allowed us to have a yummy burger from Zinburger (a local restaurant) for dinner.
